Yu Shang Food Recalls 4,589 Pounds of RTE Meat Over Listeria Contamination Risk
Yu Shang Food, Inc., located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has issued a recall of approximately 4,589 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported on Saturday.
The recall follows routine testing by FSIS on products produced by Yu Shang Food between October 21 and October 27, 2024. Test results confirmed the presence of the harmful bacterium, which can cause severe infections, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis, caused by Listeria, can result in miscarriage and stillbirth for pregnant women, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The affected products have “used by” dates from August 21, 2025, to August 27, 2025, and bear the establishment number “P-46684” or “EST. M46684” within the USDA inspection mark. These products were sold at retail locations across the country and available for purchase online.
Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised not to consume them. Instead, the FSIS recommends either discarding the products or returning them to the point of purchase. If you have these products at home, please check for the inspection number and expiration dates.
Listeriosis symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, headache, and gastrointestinal issues. If anyone experiences flu-like symptoms within two months of eating the affected products, they are urged to seek medical attention and notify their healthcare provider about potential Listeria exposure.
