An Albuquerque woman was arrested Tuesday after stealing an ambulance from Presbyterian Hospital downtown and crashing it at a nearby construction site, according to police.

Trixie Largo, 29, was captured on hospital surveillance footage leaving the emergency room and getting into an American Medical Response ambulance before driving away, according to court documents.

Albuquerque Police responded to a construction site at Comanche and Pan American Freeway NE, where the ambulance had crashed into a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner reported that the ambulance appeared to have come from Interstate 25, rolled down a hill, and ended up in the dirt construction lot before colliding with his truck, as outlined in the court documents.

Bystanders intervened and prevented Largo from fleeing the scene before police arrived. She now faces charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
