With all the comparisons to Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas says she’s tired of “constantly being bullied.”

Gabby Douglas has had enough! The well-known competitor, who became the first Black gymnast to win an Olympic individual all-around title, is fed up with being called out for being similar to Simone Biles.

The 28-year-old Virginian replied to a TikTok video on Tuesday, August 6, in which the maker voiced disapproval of the way sports fans “dropped” Gabby “like a bad habit” once Simone was named the new gymnastics face.

The TikTok user said, “Gabby Douglas used to be the greatest Olympic gymnast, and then here comes Simone Biles.” “Gabby Douglas is no longer relevant to anyone. When was the last time you gave Gabby Douglas any thought? I always have her on my mind.

In the comments, Gabby addressed the user directly and reassured her that everything “was OK,” since she had been coping with hostility in private.

In response, she commented, “Being bullied all the time is really exhausting and wearing on me.” “All I want is to go about my life in peace. I appreciate your affection. unquestionably necessary in his world x.

As the first Black gymnast to win an individual all-around Olympic title and the first American to win both the individual all-around and team gold medals in a single Olympics, Gabby created history during the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist did not participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, having announced in June that she would be missing the competition because of an injury.

Critics of the present Team USA do exist, though. MyKayla Skinner, a former teammate, denigrated Team USA’s work ethic in a lengthy YouTube video in June. MyKayla, 27, asserted that “the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be,” despite leaving out Simone.

Obviously, a lot of girls don’t put in as much work. Simply said, the girls lack a strong work ethic. After Team USA’s victory in the team all-around final on July 30, Simone quietly clapped back, posting a picture of herself with colleagues Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Suni Lee.

She appeared to be replying to her former teammate when she posted the photo, saying, “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions.”

Weeks after her controversial statements, MyKayla reached out to Simone personally, experiencing a lot of blowback. She asked Simone to beg her fans to halt the cyberbullying that she has been subjected to since making her remarks.

The Arizona native wrote a lengthy letter on Tuesday, August 6, on Instagram. “Things have really gotten out of hand lately and it’s one thing to disagree with me regarding something I said or a point I was trying to make,” the message stated. “But when that escalates into cyberbullying or something even worse, that’s something else entirely.”

She said that she, her spouse, and her young daughter have received “threats of physical harm” as a result of her remarks.
