When will President Joe Biden address the nation after dropping out of race?
WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
Biden shared the decision in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. He has yet to formally address the nation to discuss the details of his decision.
In his statement, Biden indicated that he will speak to the nation later this week to provide more information about his decision. He did not specify which day he will make the address.
In a follow-up post on X, Biden expressed his support for Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democrats against former President Donald Trump. Harris later released a statement in response.
“I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” Harris said.
Biden also clarified that, although he is stepping down from the presidential campaign, he will “focus solely on fulfilling my duties” by serving out the remainder of his current term as president.
