
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A fire at a Walmart in Albuquerque caused a brief shutdown on Saturday morning. Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) responded to the scene at the Walmart located on Eubank Blvd., near I-40, around 11:30 a.m. Firefighters discovered smoke emanating from an HVAC vent in the ceiling of the store.
Fortunately, AFR crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly, within just 10 minutes, with damage confined mainly to the HVAC unit. No injuries were reported among employees, customers, or firefighters.
AFR officials confirmed that the fire was triggered by an accidental malfunction in the electric components of the HVAC unit. Minor repairs were carried out, and the store was able to reopen shortly after the incident .
