As calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race grow louder and the 2024 Democratic National Convention approaches, attention is focused on the state’s Democratic delegates. There are 46 delegates and two alternates from the state.
Here’s a breakdown of who they are and how they were chosen:
Automatic Delegates
According to the state party’s 2024 Delegate Selection Plan, automatic delegates include all of New Mexico’s Democratic Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, the Democratic governor, and members of the Democratic National Committee residing in New Mexico. The plan also includes all former Chairs of the Democratic National Committee.
