According to The Sun , Subway is set to launch a major redesign of its nearly 40,000 restaurants worldwide in 2025 with the introduction of Fresh Forward 2.0. This new design aims to enhance convenience, improve the customer experience, and increase profitability for franchisees.
The Fresh Forward concept, which debuted in 2017, was a pivotal move for the brand, modernizing its restaurants and helping to reset perceptions while driving sales. Over 20,000 Subway locations have since been remodeled or newly built with this contemporary design. Now, Subway plans to build on that success with Fresh Forward 2.0.
Mike Kehoe, Subway’s global chief development officer, highlighted that the new design isn’t just a remodel but a crucial evolution to future-proof the business. “Fresh Forward 2.0 is an exciting next step in ensuring we continue to deliver a great experience for our guests and franchisees,” Kehoe said.
What’s New in Fresh Forward 2.0?
The revamped design will incorporate vibrant brand elements, including bold wall graphics, localized messaging, new signage, elevated lighting, and warmer wood tones. Subway aims to bring a stronger brand personality to its restaurants, making each location more inviting and dynamic.
In addition to the visual changes, Fresh Forward 2.0 will focus on enhancing digital sales channels. Subway is testing self-serve kiosks, order-ready screens, and kitchen display systems at select locations to streamline operations and offer customers a more convenient dining experience.
“Each design iteration has represented a significant milestone for Subway,” Kehoe added. “Fresh Forward 2.0 is poised to make the biggest impact yet, showcasing our marketing, culinary, and digital innovations.”
The redesign has been well-received in tests, with franchisees, employees, and customers all providing positive feedback. Many customers noted that the new layout increased their likelihood of dining in and returning to Subway.
