Millions of beneficiaries will receive their Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for September in just five days. These payments, which can be as high as $943, are scheduled to be distributed on September 1, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA).

SSI payments are intended for individuals with severe disabilities that significantly impact their ability to earn an income. To qualify, recipients must be at least partially blind or have a physical or mental condition that severely limits their daily activities for at least 12 months or is expected to result in death.

Eligible individuals can receive up to $943 per month, while couples filing jointly may receive up to $1,415. Additionally, essential persons—those who provide necessary care to SSI recipients—can receive up to $472. These amounts reflect a 3.2% increase from last year due to inflation adjustments.

It’s important to note that SSI payments are separate from regular Social Security benefits. Receiving one does not automatically qualify an individual for the other.

To estimate their payment amount, recipients can use the SSA’s online calculator.
