If you receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your payment schedule will differ. Payments are typically issued as follows:
- Social Security Payments: Sent out on the 3rd of each month.
- SSI Payments: Sent out on the 1st of each month.
If the 1st or 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday, payments may be adjusted. For example, if the 1st or 3rd of a month is a weekend, payments may be issued early. This happened in March when payments were delivered two days early due to the 3rd falling on a weekend. The same adjustment will apply in November.
Missing Your Social Security Check?
If your check does not arrive as scheduled, the SSA advises waiting an additional three mailing days before contacting them. If you still do not receive your payment, you can reach out to the SSA through the national toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213.
The SSA suggests that wait times are generally shorter in the morning, later in the week, and towards the end of the month. If you experience difficulties reaching the SSA via the national number, consider using their office locator to find and contact a local office.
