SNAP benefit increase in October – Official announcement from FNS
According to Lagradaonline, Starting October 1, 2024, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as ‘Food Stamps,’ will see an increase in maximum benefit amounts for most recipients. This adjustment, announced by the United States Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), will affect SNAP payments throughout the fiscal year 2025 until the next Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for fiscal year 2026. While these changes will benefit 49 states and U.S. territories, there will be a reduction in benefits for one state.
SNAP provides crucial monthly financial assistance to low-income households across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and U.S. territories, helping them purchase nutritious food. The revised benefit rates will be delivered via Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, usable at approved retailers. The new rates will take effect on October 1, 2024.
