Despite suffering a calf injury, Simone Biles‘ husband Jonathan Owens referred to her as a “warrior” after she won multiple medals at the 2024 Olympics.
“Undoubtedly, on the first day when she sustained the injury to her calf and her ability to go out there and still dominate is just amazing to watch,” Jonathan, 29, said about Simone, 27, to reporters on Tuesday, August 6, during a press conference for the Chicago Bears during the team’s training camp.
The Ohio native competed for Team USA in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and won four medals despite the injuries.
“My spouse is a fighter. I compare that to how we are in football, so that’s the one thing I tell people,” he gushed. It will ache a little bit right before you hobble around. However, as soon as you leave, it seems to vanish from memory. The only things that stand out are her pain threshold and her ability to appear poised in every situation.
Regarding the injuries, Jonathan continued, “people really didn’t have a clue what was going on.” He went added, “I’m just so happy and proud for her.”
A few weeks prior to the Olympics, Simone experienced a minor calf injury, which was previously disclosed. On Monday, August 5, she provided an update on her health in an interview with NBC.
The gymnast remarked, “Calf is good,” noting that she was wearing a protective boot on her left leg as a precaution. “It’s just being safe, because we still have [a] tour to recover from and all that stuff after this.” That is, only mild discomfort. Elite athletes, in my opinion, are quite resilient; we’re basically prepared for anything, whether it’s joy or agony.
Throughout the Olympics in Paris, Jonathan supported his wife, and he even shared pictures of themselves with one of her gold medals on social media. The NFL player wrote, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat,” as the caption for a set of pictures on July 30. “Awesome job on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in the history of the Olympics! Simply amazing! Eight of them! I’m really glad I could witness that.
Fans immediately criticized him for wearing her medal, and Simone stood by her boyfriend even after they insisted he take it off. The strange thing is that I took pictures and placed my medal on each and every member of my family. Thus, never assume anything. Like how f-king miserable all of you are. Through social media, she urged detractors to “leave us alone.”
It’s obvious that Simone and Jonathan encourage one another’s professional endeavors. An insider revealed exclusively to Life & Style that Simone is “madly in love” and that having her husband compete in the Olympics “gave her a big boost.”
