According to Lifestylemag Simone Biles, the celebrated gymnast and four-time Olympic gold medalist, made a bold statement at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After clinching another gold medal in the individual all-around competition, Biles wore a glittering “G.O.A.T.” (Greatest of All Time) necklace, seemingly addressing her critics with a touch of sparkle.

The 27-year-old gymnast, who dominated the all-around final on August 1 with a score of 59.131, shared her victory with teammates Suni Lee, who secured the bronze, and Jordan Chiles, who gifted her the new necklace. Biles edged out silver medalist Rebeca Andrade of Brazil by 1.199 points. Lee finished third with a score of 56.465.

In her post-competition interview, Biles explained the significance of the necklace. “It’s a little ode. A lot of people call me the G.O.A.T, so I thought it would be really special to have one made,” she said. “The haters hate it, so I love that even more. It’s a special reminder for me, both here and at home, that I can do this because I’ve done it before.”

Despite her acclaim, Biles remains grounded, expressing disbelief at being considered one of the greatest athletes of all time. “It’s still crazy to me because I’m just Simone Biles from Spring, Texas, who loves to flip,” she reflected.

Biles’ victory follows the U.S. women’s gymnastics team’s gold medal win in the team all-around final on July 30. The team, consisting of Biles, Lee, Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera, performed exceptionally, with Biles and Chiles competing in all four events—vault, beam, bars, and floor routine—while Lee competed in the latter three. Carey participated in the vault, and Rivera, though not competing in the team final, received a gold medal.

In the aftermath of the team’s success, Biles appeared to take a jab at former teammate MyKayla Skinner, who had criticized this year’s team in June. Biles posted celebratory photos on Instagram with the caption, “Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions,” which many interpreted as a response to Skinner’s comments.

The response to Biles’ post was swift and supportive. Former Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney commented, “It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around and found out for real.” Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, and teammates Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee also expressed their approval, with Chiles declaring, “And that’s on periodt!!”

Skinner, who had previously made negative remarks about the team’s talent and work ethic in a YouTube video, later apologized, stating her comments were misunderstood. She clarified that her criticism was not directed at the current team but rather at the shift in training dynamics since the Karolyi era.

As the 2024 Olympics continue, Biles’ powerful performance and her confident response to criticism underscore her enduring impact on the sport and her status as a gymnastics legend.
