SEEING GREEN: I’m 17 and make $250 a day with an my lawn side hustle – it’s fast money and I don’t even leave my neighborhood
According to THE SUN, A 17-year-old has shared a simple and effective part-time job idea for those looking to earn some extra cash: starting a lawn care business. The teen, known as Special K Lawn Care on TikTok (@specialklawncare), launched his side hustle in his neighborhood, initially cutting grass and edging yards at homes nearby before expanding his clientele.
In a recent video, the young entrepreneur showcased his work, using a push mower to trim lawns and a weed whacker for detailed edges. He explained that each job takes about 40 minutes, with rates typically around $45, depending on the size of the yard.
Efficient Operations
After completing his first lawn, the teen mentioned that it only took him two minutes to reach the next house, as he focused on clients within his neighborhood. This strategy not only saves on travel time and expenses but also helps him gain new clients through word of mouth.
“I’ve been mowing for this client for over a year, and they have referred me to many of their friends and neighbors,” he noted, sharing that he currently serves 30 clients and expects to gain even more.
Profit Potential
The financial rewards of this side hustle are considerable. The teen claims to earn around $250 per day from his lawn care business. If he were to operate full-time, this could translate to a monthly income of about $7,500 before taxes, amounting to roughly $90,000 annually.

Alternative Side Hustles
For those who may not enjoy lawn care or working long hours outdoors, side hustle expert Charles Hayes (@charleshayes) has suggested other creative options for teens looking to make extra cash.
One of his successful ventures involved dog-walking and babysitting. Hayes charged $35 for each dog on a one-hour hike, and later, he watched four of them for the evening at a rate of $90 each. This effort earned him nearly $600 in one day.
He also explored a door-to-door sales business, offering to paint house numbers at the end of driveways. Although he faced some rejections initially, he eventually secured a few clients and made $80 in just two hours.
Another teen reported earning over $4,000 in a month from a “pool” side hustle that required only a $10 startup cost. Additionally, a creative laundry service allowed another savvy entrepreneur to bring in $1,000 per month.
