Santa Clara County officials are investigating six deaths that may be linked to the recent October heat wave. According to the county medical examiner-coroner, the individuals could have died from heat-related causes, though investigations are still underway and may take up to 60 days to confirm.
This comes after the county reported nine heat-related deaths during the extreme temperatures in July.
Santa Clara County, along with other parts of the Bay Area, has been experiencing a heatwave with temperatures soaring into the 100s. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the region, which remains in effect until 11 p.m. on Monday.
