San Jose Woman Struck and Killed in City’s 15th Pedestrian Fatality of 2024
The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a female pedestrian on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at 6:31 p.m. at the intersection of South Fifth and East Fernando streets. According to SJPD, a male driver of a 2018 silver Nissan Sentra struck the woman while she was crossing the street in the crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, she passed away a few days later, officials confirmed.
This marks the 15th pedestrian death and the 41st traffic-related fatality in San Jose so far in 2024, according to SJPD.
