San Jose Residential Fire Injures One, Multiple Dogs Missing in Blaze
Firefighters responded to a two-alarm residential fire in San Jose on Saturday, which left one person injured and multiple dogs missing.
The San Jose Fire Department reported that the fire occurred at a two-story single-family home on the 4600 block of Thornhaven Way around 5 p.m. Saturday.
All residents safely evacuated the house, though one person suffered burn injuries, according to the SJFD.
Despite the injury, the family’s main concern is their missing dogs.
“They blocked off the whole street, and it seems like one or two dogs are still missing,” said neighbor Carlos Deluca.
Fire officials revealed that the home housed 12 dogs, and efforts are ongoing to locate them. One dog has been found, but Animal Control took custody of it after it reportedly bit a toddler.
The family declined to comment to NBC Bay Area.
“The main home is currently uninhabitable, so we’re determining whether the family will need assistance from the Red Cross or if they’ll handle it on their own,” said San Jose Fire Battalion Chief Michael Maas.
