According to Newsweek , Wegmans Food Markets has issued a voluntary recall for its “Asian Sesame Salad with Chicken & Asian Dressing” due to the potential presence of an undeclared egg allergen. The recall affects stores in eight states: New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.

The affected products have UPC codes starting with 2-27306, with packed dates between November 5 and November 8, and sell-by dates between November 7 and November 10. Customers who purchased these items are advised to return them for a full refund.

Eggs, which are one of the nine major food allergens recognized by the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research (FASTER) Act, were not listed on the product packaging. People with egg allergies could experience severe reactions after consuming the product, including skin rashes, swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, and in some cases, anaphylaxis—a life-threatening condition requiring immediate treatment.

The recall emphasizes the importance of proper food labeling to protect consumers with allergies, allowing them to avoid potentially dangerous ingredients. If you or someone you know has an egg allergy, it is crucial to read food labels carefully and avoid foods that may contain undeclared allergens.

For more information or to return the product, consumers can contact Wegmans Food Markets directly.
