
The Tularosa Rose Relays took place on Saturday, with athletes from Tularosa, Alamogordo JV, and Mescalero Apache delivering impressive performances across multiple track and field events.
Tularosa Highlights
Girls’ Events:
Kayleigh Bigas dominated the distance races, winning the 800m (2:55.90), 1600m (6:31.32), and 3200m (13:48). Teammate Keaira Rice secured second place in the 1600m (7:24.30) and fourth in the 800m (3:11.23). Diana Casares earned a second-place finish in the 400m (1:12.47) and placed third in the 800m (3:04.20).
Alivya Young excelled in the throwing events, winning both the shot put (31-03) and discus (100-10), while also placing third in javelin (83-06).
Tularosa’s 4×800 relay team also secured first place with a time of 10:30.00.
Boys’ Events:
Michael Hood was a standout in sprinting, claiming victories in the 100m (12.09) and 200m (25.18), while also placing second in high jump (5-0). Brock Morgan took first place in the 400m (58.48) and finished second in long jump (16-10.50).
The Tularosa boys’ team excelled in the throwing events as well, with Shawn Boroski winning both shot put (36-01.75) and discus (105-03). The 4×400 relay team secured first place in 4:04.27.

Mescalero Apache Highlights
Girls’ Events:
Zoey Klinekole finished third in the 1600m (7:35.71) and sixth in the 800m (3:18.99). Molly Pena placed third in the 3200m (16:28), while Deandra McFadden took fifth in shot put (19-02.50).
Boys’ Events:
Drake Affuso claimed first place in the long jump (17-05) and finished second in the 110m hurdles (20.95). Westly Sago placed third in the 800m (2:31.83), while Avin Yellowcloud secured sixth in shot put (30-05). The Mescalero Apache 4×400 relay team earned second place with a time of 4:06.61.
Alamogordo JV Highlights
Girls’ Events:
Raquelle French was a top performer, finishing second in both the 100m (14.40) and 200m (30.99). Gabriella Gonzalez-Ruiz tied for third in high jump (4-02) and sixth in the 100m (15.59). The JV girls’ relay teams secured second-place finishes in both the 4x100m (1:01.00) and 4x200m (2:08.52).
Boys’ Events:
Alamogordo’s JV team had multiple first-place finishes, including Trace Kotter in the 110m hurdles (19.99), Robert Flores in the 300m hurdles (48.89), and Bennett Colton in both the 800m (2:28.78) and 1600m (5:49.12).
Will Bynum took first place in high jump (5-04), while the 4x100m (48.32) and 4x200m (1:41.82) relay teams both secured victories.
Looking ahead, Tularosa and Mescalero Apache will compete at the White Sands-Rolla Buck Invitational in Alamogordo this coming Saturday .
