According to Vibes.okdiario, If you’re receiving Social Security retirement benefits, you may receive your payment on one of four designated paydays each month. Depending on various factors, such as your birth date, your direct deposit or check may arrive earlier or later in the month.

Payment Schedule for October

For October, some retirees will not see their direct deposit or check until October 23. This delay is due to the specific rules surrounding payment dates based on the recipient’s birth date.

To qualify for the last payment in October, you must meet the following birthday criteria:

  • Retirement payment on October 9: If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month.
  • Retirement payment on October 16: If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month.
  • Retirement payment on October 23: If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month.

It’s important to note that two specific circumstances could prevent you from receiving the Wednesday payments:

  1. If you began receiving benefits before May 1997, your next Social Security check will be due on November 1, which is two days ahead of schedule.
  2. Individuals on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and retirement benefits are also not eligible for the October 23 payment.

How Much Will Your Social Security Payment Be?

The amount you receive from Social Security depends on several factors, including your age at the time of filing:

  • A retiree who files at age 70 can receive up to $4,873.
  • If you file at age 62, your payment could be as much as $2,710.
  • Those who file at their Full Retirement Age can receive up to $3,822.

On average, the Social Security payment for retirees is around $1,920. However, if you’ve only worked for ten years, filed at age 62, and had a low income, your check may be significantly smaller.

Additionally, retirees who have just started receiving Social Security benefits and have limited income and resources may qualify for SSI benefits. This can provide a monthly payment averaging $575. Keep in mind that the next SSI check will not be sent until November 1, and if you apply for SSI now in October, it may take longer to receive a decision.
