PNM Launches Power Pros Program to Train Students in Electric Utility Careers
PNM has contributed $1 million to fund the PNM Power Pros program at three New Mexico high schools. This initiative, in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 611, is designed to train students for careers as electric utility professionals.
The program is currently offered at ACE Leadership High School in Albuquerque, Silver Consolidated Schools in Silver City, and Tularosa High School in Tularosa. PNM has plans to expand the program to additional schools in the future.
“PNM Power Pros is an innovative, first-of-its-kind program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training,” said PNM President and CEO Don Tarry. Students who complete the program earn career and technical education course credits, along with OSHA 10 certification.
