New Report Reveals High Levels of Food and Housing Insecurity Among New Mexico College Students
According to KRQE recent study has highlighted a significant challenge facing college students in New Mexico: food and housing insecurity. According to the latest Student Basic Needs Report released by the University of New Mexico, nearly 60% of college students in the state are grappling with food insecurity.
The report reveals that 58% of students experienced food insecurity, with 39% facing very low food security. This severe level of food insecurity disrupted their eating patterns due to financial constraints.
In addition to food insecurity, the report sheds light on the struggles with housing security. It indicates that 62% of students have faced challenges related to housing, and 14% reported experiencing homelessness within the past year.
