New Mexico Teen Jace Green Shines in International Junior Bull Riding Competition
According to source, A team of American junior bull riders, including three teenagers from New Mexico, recently achieved victory in an international competition held in Australia.
“I felt amazing; it was just the best feeling ever,” expressed 13-year-old Jace Green from Dexter, New Mexico, reflecting on the accomplishment.
Green was among several young riders representing the United States in a series of matches against Team Australia. Over the course of approximately three weeks, the team showcased their skills across multiple competitions, ultimately returning home last Tuesday with the championship title.
“I made a lot of friends, and I won three rounds,” Green shared. “Got second in one. I did pretty good. It was a fun trip.”
Demonstrating exceptional performance, Green contributed nearly half of the team’s total points, significantly aiding in their triumph over the Australian competitors. He secured first place in both the first and second rounds of the initial competition and continued his strong showing by winning the first round and placing second in the final round of the subsequent event.
Discussing his approach to the sport, Green noted, “It’s just a mental game. If you’re feeling strong in your head, you’re gonna ride anything you get on.”
Bull riding has been a longstanding tradition in Green’s family. He began competing at a young age, starting with sheep riding before progressing to bulls. His father, Jared Green, proudly spoke of his son’s talents, stating, “He’s dang sure handy. I mean, kid rides good; he ropes good.”
Both of Jace’s parents earned full-ride rodeo scholarships for college, and his mother’s family boasts generations of rodeo competitors. “It’s just been on both sides of the family forever,” Jared added, highlighting the deep-rooted connection to the sport.
Looking ahead, Jace Green is preparing to compete in an upcoming junior high rodeo event scheduled to take place in a couple of weeks in Socorro, where he hopes to continue his impressive streak.
