New Mexico State Police Issue 207 Speeding Citations in I-40 Traffic Operation
According to Countryherald, On August 19, 2024, the New Mexico State Police executed a significant traffic enforcement operation on Interstate 40, involving officers from Districts 5, 6, and 9. The high-visibility initiative aimed to address issues such as aggressive driving, distracted driving, and seatbelt violations.
During the operation, which spanned from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., officers issued a total of 207 speeding citations and 103 additional traffic-related infractions. They also cited six drivers for seatbelt violations. The enforcement effort led to two felony arrests and one misdemeanor arrest.
The operation focused on ensuring the safety of motorists along I-40, a crucial east-west transportation route. Officers monitored both eastbound and westbound lanes, emphasizing that maintaining road safety remains a top priority.
