New Mexico State Initiative Aims to Support Ex-Prisoners with Health Care Services
According to Krqe, State health officials are raising awareness about a program designed to assist individuals as they transition out of prison. The New Mexico Justice Re-Entry Program, which operates under Medicaid, aims to support former convicts in reconnecting with essential health care services.
Two informational meetings are scheduled for September to educate the public about the program’s benefits and how it works.
“When individuals leave prison or jail with an established and trusted connection to health care services, they are more likely to continue necessary medications, adhere to treatment plans, and seek additional services,” explained Medicaid Director Dana Flannery. “We believe this initiative can significantly impact efforts to help people successfully reintegrate into their communities.”
