“New Mexico State Fair Sees Record-Breaking Turnout”
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — As the New Mexico State Fair nears its end, General Manager Dan Mourning reports that this year’s event has been a major success.
“This year, everything has come together perfectly. Everyone is excited and ready to have a great time,” said Mourning.
Attendance has been steadily increasing since 2020, but this year has set a new record. Mourning highlighted that the livestock sale also achieved a record-breaking result, surpassing last year’s total by $35,000.
“Every day has seen higher attendance than the previous year, which was already a record with 472,000 attendees,” Mourning said. “Considering New Mexico’s population is about 2.1 million, drawing in 500,000 people is a significant achievement, mostly from within the state.”
In addition to the record-breaking livestock sale, four out of the six concerts held at the fair were sold out. Mourning emphasized that the fair offers much more than just concerts and food. “We have a wide range of free entertainment included with the admission price. We even had wrestling as part of the fun,” he noted.
Essynce Houston, who has visited the fair twice, shared her enthusiasm. “I love the rides, although the lines can be long. The fair is really fun and feels like a tradition, just like the Balloon Fiesta,” Houston told KOAT.
The fair’s final day will feature events celebrating both the rodeo and Hispanic Heritage Month.
