Spread the love

The New Mexico State Fair is approaching, and officials at Expo New Mexico are eager to showcase a range of new attractions and updates for this year’s event. Dan Mourning, General Manager of the State Fair, expressed excitement about the fresh experiences awaiting fairgoers, stating, “There’s so much stuff we have this year, it’s unbelievable it’s fair time.”

New Entertainment and Attractions

This year’s fair promises a variety of new entertainment options. Attendees can look forward to unique attractions such as a pink poodle show, a thrilling jet pack show, and a foaming party area designed for cooling off. Additionally, professional wrestling will make its debut at the fair, adding an exciting new element to the lineup.

Food and Beverage Offerings

Food enthusiasts will find both classic favorites and new options. The fair will continue to offer beloved items like the green chile burger, alongside 20 new vendors that will be announced shortly. For adults seeking a refreshing drink, a new speakeasy with a steampunk theme will be featured in the Lujan C building. Attendees will need to solve a code to gain entry, but Mourning assures that the experience will be well worth it.

Transportation and Security Enhancements

To improve convenience, a new park-and-ride service will operate from Coronado Center to the fairgrounds on weekends. Unlike typical event shuttles, this service will use Herrera coaches equipped with air conditioning, providing a comfortable travel experience.

Security has also been enhanced with the introduction of advanced metal detectors featuring artificial intelligence, similar to those used in NFL stadiums. These detectors can identify not only metal but also specific objects, displaying detailed information on a tablet to expedite the screening process. This upgrade, part of a $2 million investment in security improvements, was successfully implemented at the Gathering of Nations.

Event Details

The New Mexico State Fair runs from September 5-15. Opening day will feature discounted entrance fees, with ride tickets priced at $2 each. Officials are excited about the new features and improvements and look forward to welcoming visitors to an unforgettable fair experience.
