New Mexico High Schools Join PNM’s Electric Utility Career Training Program
PNM has contributed $1 million to support the PNM Power Pros program, which is being offered in three New Mexico high schools. This initiative is a collaboration with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 611 to train students for careers in the electric utility industry.
Currently, the program is available at ACE Leadership High School in Albuquerque, Silver Consolidated Schools in Silver City, and Tularosa High School in Tularosa. PNM plans to expand the program to additional schools in the future.
“PNM Power Pros is an innovative, first-of-its-kind program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training,” said PNM President and CEO Don Tarry in a press release. Students who complete the program earn career and technical education credits, as well as OSHA 10 certification.
