In recent months, cannabis recalls have surged across various states, with the latest affecting Alamogordo and the broader New Mexico region. According to AlamogordoTownNews.org, the New Mexico State Cannabis Control Division (CCD) has issued a recall for cannabis flower after it was found to contain a prohibited pesticide.

The CCD’s consumer health and safety advisory alerts the public to contaminated cannabis flower, including bud, shake, and trim, which tested positive for the banned pesticide. This advisory underscores a growing trend: recalls are becoming more common in the cannabis industry, challenging the misconception that such issues are rare due to minimal regulation by agencies like the FDA.

Previously, New Mexico has seen recalls in the cannabis sector. On March 22, the CCD announced a recall for several cannabis concentrate products sold at Got Greens dispensary. The affected products—Purple Kush Live Sugar, Cali Dream Live Sugar, Jigglers Live Diamonds, and OG Kush Shatter—were contaminated with pesticide and sold between January 31, 2023, and February 15, 2024. The manufacturer, Pharmers, has been directed to destroy all remaining contaminated concentrates and halt sales to other retailers.
