“New Mexico Court Orders ‘Rust’ Armorer to Stay Behind Bars”
The armorer involved in the fatal shooting on a New Mexico movie set will remain in prison for the foreseeable future.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is currently serving an 18-month sentence for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust.” The incident also resulted in injuries to the film’s director.
Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney recently filed a motion to dismiss the charges and requested her release while the appeal is pending. However, on Monday, a judge ruled against the request, stating that her legal team failed to prove that she would not be a flight risk or pose a danger to others if released.
