New Mexico Car Seat Inspection Clinics: Free Checks and Replacements Available
The New Mexico Department of Transportation will sponsor car seat inspection clinics on Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 11 locations throughout the state. These clinics aim to educate parents and caregivers about the critical importance of properly securing children in the correct car seat.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will be available to assist parents and caregivers for approximately 30 minutes per seat, offering guidance on selecting and using car seats effectively. No appointments are needed; inspections will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees should bring their car seats, car seat manuals, vehicle manuals, and, if possible, the child who uses the seat. If a technician determines that a car seat is expired, recalled, or unsafe, replacement seats will be provided. While the inspection services are free, there may be a $35 fee for replacement seats.
