New D-SNAP Support for 25,000 Households Affected by Disasters in Northern New Mexico
NEW MEXICO – According to a report of krqe In response to the recent wildfires and flooding in northern New Mexico, low-income residents who have been impacted by these disasters are set to receive additional support. The Department of Agriculture is extending the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) to more than 25,000 households in San Juan and Rio Arriba counties, who were previously not covered under the program.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for D-SNAP, households must meet the following criteria:
- Residency or Employment: Must live or work in the designated disaster areas.
- Disaster Impact: Must have been affected by the recent wildfires or flooding.
- D-SNAP Criteria: Must meet specific eligibility criteria for the D-SNAP program.
Benefit Details
Eligible households will receive a one-month benefit, which is equal to the maximum monthly SNAP amount for a household of their size. The benefits can be used to purchase groceries at SNAP-authorized stores or through select online retailers.
