According to The SUN USA, The first wave of three direct payments is set to be released in just a few days to the bank accounts of eligible Americans. For those receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) who have yet to receive a direct deposit, the Social Security Administration has provided the dates for the upcoming payments. On July 10, payments will be sent to recipients born within the first 10 days of any month.
For those with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month, the payment will be issued on July 17. Recipients born between the 21st and 31st will receive their payments on July 24. Note that those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or who were receiving benefits before May 1997 will not be eligible for this payment.

Payment Amounts and Eligibility Criteria
The average SSDI payment will be approximately $1,537, though the exact amount may vary based on work history and the age at which the individual began filing. SSDI benefits are available only to those who have a qualifying disability.
To qualify for SSDI, individuals must meet two key criteria:
Medical Condition: The individual must have a medical condition that meets the Social Security Administration’s definition of a disability. This means the condition must prevent them from working at the Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) level and must be expected to last at least one year or result in death.
Work History: The individual must have worked enough under Social Security to qualify for benefits. Generally, 40 work credits are required, with at least 20 of those credits earned in the past decade. The number of qualifying credits needed can vary based on the individual’s age.

Additional Benefits and Expanding SSI Access
For those not eligible for SSDI or who receive a lower income from SSDI, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments and SNAP benefits may be available. SSI payments are adjusted based on income, dependents, and other benefits received. Starting September 30, the Social Security Administration will be expanding SSI access.
The average SSI payment is around $742 for recipients between 18 and 64 years of age, while those over 65 typically receive about $574. Additionally, food assistance programs like SNAP can help low-income families afford healthy groceries and improve their nutrition.
