MONEY BAG: Americans can pocket up to $10,000 in unclaimed money – but they must act fast to get the cash
According to THE SUN, Some Americans could be eligible for thousands of dollars in unclaimed funds, but the window to claim it is quickly closing. Residents in Orange County, Florida, which includes the greater Orlando area, should act fast to see if they qualify for a direct payment before the opportunity disappears by the end of summer 2024.
According to the Orange County Clerk of Courts, a number of checks sent to area residents remain uncashed. The uncashed checks could be due to recipients moving and not leaving a forwarding address, or simply forgetting to cash the payment.
How to Check for Unclaimed Money
To assist residents, the Orange County Clerk of Courts has created an Unclaimed Checks List. Through this online portal, individuals, businesses, and organizations within the county can search for their names and claim their funds. The amounts vary, ranging from as little as eight cents to as much as $10,000.
Deadline Approaching
Those who believe they are owed money must visit the Orange County Clerk of Courts website to search for their name and claim their payment before the deadline of September 1, 2024.
If your name is not on the list but you still believe you are owed money, you can submit an inquiry before the September deadline. After September 1, any unclaimed checks will be forfeited and deposited into the Clerk’s Fine and Forfeiture Fund. For further assistance, residents can contact the Clerk’s Office at 407-836-2200.
