Machine Gun Found at Home of San Jose Hit-and-Run Suspect
Police seized a machine gun as part of a large arsenal found at the home of a suspect who allegedly brandished a firearm during a hit-and-run incident, according to the San Jose Police Department. Officers responded to the hit-and-run report on October 6 at approximately 12:15 p.m. near Bernal Road and San Ignacio Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Timothy Headman of San Jose, had been involved in a collision with a male victim. The victim, who was in the car with his wife and one-year-old child, attempted to exchange information with the suspect. Police say Headman brandished a firearm at the victim and fled before officers arrived.
Detectives from the SJPD Assaults Unit launched an investigation and secured a search warrant for Headman’s home. On October 7, patrol officers located Headman’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, taking him into custody. During the arrest, they found a rifle magazine and ammunition on his person.
A search of Headman’s residence, carried out by detectives, the Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET), and the Metro Unit, uncovered multiple firearms, including a machine gun, a short-barreled rifle, various other firearms, and large quantities of ammunition.
Headman was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, facing charges for criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, hit-and-run, and several felony firearm offenses.
