According to the-sun.com, Eligible residents in California have one final opportunity to claim $500 per month through guaranteed income programs, but time is running out. Two cities in the state are offering these financial support programs, with specific requirements that must be met. Here’s everything you need to know to secure your monthly payments before the deadlines.
1. El Monte
In El Monte, eligible residents can receive $500 in monthly financial support. To qualify, you must:
- Be a resident of El Monte.
- Be a single female with no partner in your household.
- Have children under 18 years old living with you.
- Have an income at or below the federal poverty level for 2024, which is $30,000 for a family of four.
Applicants must provide proof of income, identification, school enrollment, residency, and evidence of financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.
You can apply for the program in person, online, or by mailing in a printed application form. In-person applications are accepted at the City Manager’s Office at El Monte’s City Hall East from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
A total of 125 applicants will be randomly selected to receive $500 per month for one year.

2. Sacramento
Sacramento is also offering $500 per month in partnership with the nonprofit United Way. To be eligible, you must:
- Be a resident of Sacramento.
- Meet specific income requirements, which vary based on household size. For instance:
- Single adults: Income must be less than $28,205.
- Two adults with two children: Income must be less than $64,273.
- Households of eight or more can add $14,160 for each additional person.
Eligible residents can apply online until April 15 at 2:59 a.m. The first payments are scheduled to go out on July 1.
Other Guaranteed Income Programs
Outside California, other cities are also offering guaranteed income programs. For example, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, a new pilot program will provide 125 residents with $500 per month for two years. While the exact income requirements are still unclear, this program will be modeled after the successful Stockton, California pilot, which required income to be below $46,034.
In Rochester, New York, the Local Sound Collaborative is running a guaranteed income program for members of the local music community, including studio musicians, production engineers, and sound technicians. Eligible participants can receive $200 per month by applying online until June 3 at 11:59 p.m.
