According to THE SUN, Maryland residents may be eligible for a one-time payment from a $1.8 million settlement involving RealPage Utility Management, but the deadline to file a claim is today.
The Settlement Details
RealPage Utility Management has agreed to a $1.8 million settlement to resolve claims that it unlawfully charged customers administrative fees. Maryland residents who were charged these fees between April 1, 2017, and June 30, 2023, could be eligible for compensation.
Although RealPage has not admitted any wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle the class action lawsuit. To qualify for a pro-rata payment, affected individuals must file a claim by the end of today, September 2. The amount of the payout will depend on how many claims are submitted and the total administrative fees each individual was charged.
In addition to the financial settlement, RealPage has agreed to apply for a Maryland collection agency license.

Who Qualifies for a Payment?
Approximately 233,000 Maryland customers are eligible for a payout if they were charged an administrative fee by RealPage between April 2017 and June 2023. Claimants must submit their requests by today to be considered.
One-third of the $1.8 million settlement will be allocated to cover legal fees, and while the exact payment timeline has not yet been announced, those who file a claim could receive their settlement after the legal process concludes.

Other Recent Settlements Across the U.S.
Several other settlements are currently impacting consumers across the country:
- $1.5 Million Software Data Breach Settlement: Customers affected by a data breach at CMG, a software-as-a-service provider, could receive compensation of up to $4,400. CMG has not admitted fault but agreed to the settlement to resolve the lawsuit.

As part of the settlement, both apps will delete any biometric data they previously collected from Illinois residents.
- $3.875 Million Tuna Price Fixing Settlement: Walmart shoppers who purchased canned tuna from brands like StarKist and Lion Capital may be eligible for compensation as part of a $3.875 million settlement. The lawsuit alleged that these companies conspired to inflate the prices of large, foodservice-size tuna cans (40 ounces or more), with affected purchases from stores like Sam’s Club, Costco, and US Foods.
