Kamala Harris Gets Slammed by a California Sheriff for a “Misleading” Ad
The vice president Kamala Harris was the target of a scathing assault from the California sheriff after his picture appeared in a recent political advertisement where she promoted border security.
During an appearance on Fox News on Tuesday, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux called the Harris campaign’s advertisement, which features him and other law enforcement officers standing behind Harris during a press conference, “deceiving”.
“I can assure you that we in California are prepared for a someone who will stand by law enforcement. We are quite familiar with Kamala Harris and the state of law enforcement in California, having followed her career as a lawmaker, prosecutor, and attorney general. And to put it mildly, I can tell you that this advertisement is misleading,” Boudreaux remarked.
“I recall this specific instance in which we collaborated with the DEA on a drug cartel or drug trafficking group. And in this specific instance, she appeared, shook hands with no one, and departed the briefing room right away,” he went on. It was therefore quite depressing for me as a law enforcement professional to see my face and that of my colleagues being portrayed as standing with Kamala Harris. Our stance is against Kamala Harris.”
Newsweek requested a statement from the Harris campaign.
Although the sheriff’s statement stated that he does not support “any other political office,” he stated on Fox News that he believes the Republican contender, former President Donald Trump, better represents “someone who’s going to support criminal justice and law enforcement” than Harris.
When Harris served as California’s attorney general, Boudreaux criticized her record on border security.
Via Golden State Justice, the political action committee he established to back conservative candidates, he released the following statement: “We were in the green room. She never greeted any of us when she entered. She approached us, gave her news conference, and then turned to go without saying hello to any of us. You know, I’m disgusted that she refused to shake hands. She did not greet me. Furthermore, she has claimed credit for all of the natives’ labor.”
“As Attorney General Kamala Harris undercut efforts by California law enforcement officials to stop criminals from flooding our state with guns and drugs across the border,” the statement continues. “She regularly cut off funding and closed task groups that were supposed to safeguard our citizens, making our state and the Valley vulnerable.
“Kamala’s sad attempt to paint herself as tough on the border by implying my support—and the support of neighboring law enforcement leaders—is pathetic.”
Boudreaux called Harris’s assertion that she worked for decades as a “border state prosecutor” against violent crime deceptive.
Boudreaux criticized the advertisement, saying, “Politicians crammed around a podium at a press conference clearly hasn’t solved our border crisis.” “Kamala Harris hasn’t either. According to the facts, “then California Attorney General Kamala” visited the Valley in 2014 and boasted of having completed a multi-year investigation into a global drug enterprise with connections to prison gangs and Mexican drug cartels.”
