October 2024 Payment Schedule

Here’s the payment breakdown for October:

  • October 9: For those born between the 1st and 10th of any month
  • October 16: For those born between the 11th and 20th of any month
  • October 23: For those born between the 21st and 31st of any month

How the Payment Date Is Determined

Typically, Social Security payments start on the second Wednesday of each month. The exact Wednesday you receive your payment depends on your birthdate:

  • Earlier birthdays receive payments on the second Wednesday.
  • Later birthdays receive payments on the third or fourth Wednesday.

Exception: If you’ve been receiving benefits since before May 1997, your payment is issued on the 3rd of each month, regardless of your birthdate.

What to Do If You Didn’t Receive a Check

If your Social Security check doesn’t arrive on the expected date, the Social Security Administration (SSA) recommends waiting an additional three mailing days before contacting them. After that, call the national toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213.
