According to The Sun , Americans have just hours left to claim a one-time payment of up to $3,000 as part of a massive $5.1 million privacy settlement involving Magid Gloves. The class action lawsuit alleges that the company violated Illinois laws by using fingerprint time clocks and temperature scanners without proper disclosures.
Eligible individuals do not need receipts to claim their share. Anyone who used either the fingerprint scanning devices or temperature-taking scanners at Magid’s Romeoville, Illinois, facility between January 8, 2016, and August 30, 2024, can qualify for the settlement.
Magid Gloves, which manufactures protective work gloves and equipment, is accused of collecting biometric data without complying with the state’s Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). While the company denies any wrongdoing, it has agreed to a $5.175 million settlement to resolve the allegations.
Eligible claimants who used the fingerprint scanners could receive approximately $3,244.38, while those whose temperatures were taken using the scanners may be entitled to up to $135.26. The deadline for exclusion and objection was October 29, and the final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for December 20.

In addition to the Magid Gloves settlement, other class action lawsuits are offering significant payouts. A data breach settlement involving Ardagh Glass could see some claimants receiving up to $11,000, while Great Expressions, a dental care network, is offering compensation for a 2023 data breach. Cash App users also have 24 hours left to claim up to $2,500 from a $15 million settlement related to allegations of negligence.
Tubi, the popular streaming service, has agreed to pay $19.99 million to settle a class action lawsuit, further highlighting the growing trend of consumer data privacy settlements.
