“Highway 101 Reopens Near Betabel Road After Big Rig Fire Closure”
Highway 101 has reopened in both directions after a big rig caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a temporary closure, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident occurred on the southbound side of the highway, but the smoke spread into the northbound lanes, leading to the closure of both directions for a period of time.
Firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the flames, and fortunately, no injuries were reported, the CHP said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Motorists should be aware that some traffic delays may continue, as the CHP noted that the 101 Southbound off-ramp to Betabel Road remains closed.
