Gunna partnered with The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) to make this $500,000 initiative possible. Along with sponsors such as Live Nation and Adidas, the organizations are helping 30 families residing in the 30349 zip code near South Fulton, approximately 19 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.

Eligible applicants for the program were required to live in the 30349 zip code and demonstrate financial need. Although the application window has closed, approved families will receive $1,000 payments each month, starting in September 2024, with no strings attached. According to the program’s details, the first payment of $1,000 went out on September 1, 2024.

Gunna’s Vision for His Hometown

Other Guaranteed Income Programs in Atlanta

Gunna’s guaranteed income program aligns with another initiative benefiting women in Atlanta’s Westside neighborhoods. Through an expansion by In Her Hands, the largest guaranteed income program in the U.S. for Black women, approximately 270 women will receive $1,000 monthly payments for three years. The expansion was made possible by the Georgia Resilience and Opportunity Fund (GRO Fund) and non-profit organization GiveDirectly.

Although applications for this program have closed, future applicants must meet three key criteria:

  1. Be women aged 18 or older.
  2. Reside within the geographic boundaries of Bankhead, English Avenue, Vine City, or Washington Park.
  3. Have an income at or below twice the Federal Poverty Level.

National Guaranteed Income Programs

Other guaranteed income initiatives are also active across the U.S. In California, a $500 monthly payment program, Breathe, is currently benefiting select residents. Meanwhile, in Texas, a controversial $500 monthly payment initiative is getting a second chance.

These guaranteed income programs are providing much-needed financial relief to low-income individuals and families across the nation. Prospective applicants should stay informed about future opportunities in their areas.
