According to The Sun, A well-known grocery chain, Natural Grocers, is closing one of its 169 locations, with a store-wide sale planned before its final day. The Downtown Denver store will close its doors on October 31, with a sale offering 10% off everything starting on October 4.

Natural Grocers cited operational challenges, including retail theft and safety concerns, as the key reasons behind the difficult decision to close the Colfax and Washington store.

Facing Operational Challenges

Kemper Isely, Co-President of Natural Grocers, explained: “We have been actively working to address the theft and safety issues impacting our store at Colfax and Washington for some time. Despite our investment in security and loss prevention strategies over the years, these factors have continued to challenge our ability to operate our store safely and sustainably. We have made the difficult decision to close our doors at this location.”

Isely also expressed gratitude to the store’s employees, stating: “We are grateful to our Crew members who have worked to provide world-class customer service in challenging circumstances and will partner with them to identify other opportunities at Natural Grocers.”

Commitment to the Community

Despite the closure, Natural Grocers remains committed to serving the Downtown Denver area. The company reassured customers that nearby stores will continue to serve the surrounding communities, including City Park West, Capitol Hill, Baker, and Cherry Creek, maintaining the high standards of service and affordability that the chain is known for.

Conn’s Home Plus Store Closures

In a related retail development, liquidation sales are underway at the historic home goods chain Conn’s Home Plus, which is set to close all 170 of its stores. As part of the closure, prices on items like televisions, ovens, and tables have been slashed by up to 70%, with additional discounts on bar stools and massage chairs of at least 40%.

Conn’s entered bankruptcy earlier this year and initially planned to close 70 stores, but that number quickly rose to 170, spanning across 15 states. Shoppers have been urged to take advantage of the sales as stores may close early when stock is depleted.

The closures will heavily impact locations in Texas, with more than 70 stores shutting down, along with 20 in Florida and 12 in North Carolina.
