GRATITUDE GRATIN: Walmart’s Thanksgiving basket deal is just under $7 a person – it feeds up to 10 people and even cheaper than last year
According to THE SUN, Walmart is simplifying and reducing the costs associated with Thanksgiving celebrations, ensuring that families can enjoy the holiday together without breaking the bank.
Affordable Thanksgiving Meals
As part of its holiday season offerings, Walmart is providing a Thanksgiving meal that can feed up to 10 people for less than $7 per person. In a year marked by inflation that has strained household budgets, this price reduction for the Thanksgiving basket is a welcome relief for many families.
Latriece Watkins, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Walmart US, highlighted the retailer’s commitment to affordability in a recent press release. “We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs. We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday – more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long,” she stated.
Basket Basics
The Thanksgiving meal basket features 28 beloved items that are staples for a traditional Thanksgiving feast. This includes turkey priced under $1 per pound, along with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberries, and classic holiday desserts. The meal will be available starting October 14 and running through December 25, providing shoppers ample time to plan their holiday festivities.
Customers can purchase the meal both in-store and online, with the added convenience of Walmart’s delivery and pickup services.
Buy One, Give One Initiative
Walmart is also introducing a new one-click “buy one, give one” donation option this year, enabling customers to spread holiday cheer to those in need. When buying the Thanksgiving meal package online, customers can choose to donate a similar meal to a family in need through a partnership with The Salvation Army. Additionally, shoppers can contribute to the Red Kettles located outside Walmart stores or take part in the Angel Tree program, which provides gifts for children in need. Last year, Walmart’s collaboration with The Salvation Army raised over $34 million, and the retailer aims to enhance that generosity this year.

Enhanced Delivery Services
To further assist customers, Walmart is expanding its delivery services to reach an additional 12 million households, ensuring that more people can access their affordable holiday offerings. With early morning deliveries starting as early as 6 AM and express delivery options available in as little as 30 minutes, Walmart is committed to catering to even the most last-minute shoppers.
Customers who prefer shopping from home will appreciate Walmart’s user-friendly app and website, where they can find all essentials for their holiday meals and more. Walmart+ members will also enjoy exclusive early access to top deals, giving them a 12-hour advantage on holiday gift shopping before the rush begins.
Kicking Off the Holiday Season
While Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal deal is a highlight of their offerings, the retailer has even more planned for holiday shoppers. The company is launching its first Holiday Deals event from October 8-13, featuring significant discounts on popular gifts across categories like electronics, toys, home décor, and fashion. Shoppers can look forward to deep discounts on items ranging from gaming consoles to 98-inch televisions and stylish holiday outfits.
Walmart’s commitment to low prices extends beyond special promotions, with six days of major discounts on well-known brands. The Holiday Deals event signifies the beginning of a season filled with incredible savings opportunities for shoppers.
Additionally, Walmart has recently gained attention for its “style tour” featuring mobile shops, further enhancing the shopping experience. As the holiday season approaches, Walmart is making it easier than ever for families to enjoy Thanksgiving together affordably and conveniently.
