According to Lagradaonline, As September draws to a close, the final Social Security payments for the month have been disbursed to retirees, survivors, and disabled individuals born between the 21st and 31st, with payments made on September 25th. As we move into October, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will initiate a new round of payments starting on Tuesday, October 1st. Beneficiaries should be aware that the recently announced 3.2% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2025 is already reflected in these monthly payments. Here’s what to expect in October regarding Social Security benefits.

New Payment Schedule for October

To manage the distribution of over 70 million Social Security payments each month, the SSA has established an annual payment schedule that keeps beneficiaries informed about the various payment dates for the four programs under its purview: Retirement, Survivors, Disability Insurance (RSDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

October’s payment schedule will feature a slight change compared to September. Due to September 1 falling on a weekend, SSI recipients did not receive their regular payment that month; instead, it was postponed to Friday, August 30th. However, this will not be the case in October. Since the first of the month is a Tuesday, SSI beneficiaries will receive their normal benefits on that date, irrespective of when they claimed benefits or their birth dates.

Following the SSI payment, retirees, survivors, and disabled individuals who applied for benefits before May 1997 will receive their payments on Thursday, October 3rd. For RSDI program beneficiaries who applied after May 1997, there will be three additional mailing dates scheduled throughout the month.
