Following the Olympic Village firing controversy, Luana Alonso celebrates reaching a milestone on Instagram
Controversial swimmer Luana Alonso marked a social media achievement on Friday, despite recent reports of her expulsion from the Olympic Village in Paris. Alonso celebrated reaching one million followers on Instagram, sharing her gratitude with fans in an Instagram Story.
In her post, Alonso expressed her surprise and appreciation, stating, “What! 1m I can’t believe it. It may have happened in a way I didn’t want, but I want to thank you all for supporting me,” and included a red heart emoji with a screenshot of her follower count.
Alonso has been at the center of international attention this week due to allegations that led to her removal from the Olympic Village. According to Larissa Schaerer, head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, Alonso was asked to leave due to “creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.”
Schaerer confirmed in a statement obtained by The Sun, “Her presence was creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay. We thank her for complying with the request, as it was her own decision not to spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
