Felony Hit and Run in Downtown Santa Cruz Leads to Woman’s Arrest
A woman was arrested in Santa Cruz on Sunday morning after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash where she struck a pedestrian with her vehicle.
According to Santa Cruz police, 20-year-old Harshitha Kachibhoeia from San Jose is accused of hitting a female pedestrian from Hollister at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Laurel Street. The incident was reported around 1:31 a.m.
The pedestrian sustained significant injuries and was transported to an out-of-county trauma center, where she underwent surgery. She is currently in stable condition.
Kachibhoeia turned herself in to Santa Cruz police around 8 a.m. and was subsequently arrested on a felony hit-and-run charge.
