FBI New Mexico Division Focuses on Public Safety and Crime Reduction
The FBI plays a vital role in safeguarding New Mexico, ensuring that the state’s streets are safe, cases are solved, and crime is reduced. Special Agent Raul Bujanda, in charge of the FBI Albuquerque Division, recently discussed the agency’s efforts on New Mexico Living.
The FBI investigates a wide range of criminal activities, including terrorism, cybercrime, organized crime, civil rights violations, counterintelligence, public corruption, and white-collar crime. According to Bujanda, “Anything on the federal side, the FBI will be involved.”
One of the most common crimes the FBI encounters is fraud, particularly cryptocurrency-related fraud. “There are still a lot of people falling for cryptocurrency-type fraud,” Bujanda said. He urged the public to be cautious and report anything that seems too good to be true by calling the FBI at (505) 889-1300.
Suspicious activities and crimes can also be reported 24/7 by phone or online at tips.fbi.gov.
