According to THE SUN, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients can anticipate receiving two payments within a short span of less than a month. SSI, a program under the Social Security Administration (SSA), provides financial assistance to low-income individuals with disabilities and older adults.

Payment Schedule

In May, eligible SSI recipients will receive two payments, with the first scheduled to be deposited in just three weeks. This initial payment will be up to $943 for individual filers and is expected to arrive in bank accounts on Wednesday, May 1, according to The Denver Gazette.

The second payment will be issued on Friday, May 30. This adjustment is due to June 1 falling on a Saturday, so the May payment will replace the usual June disbursement.

Payment Amounts

  • Individual Filers: Up to $943 per month.
  • Couples: Up to $1,415 per month.
  • Essential Persons: Up to $472 per month.

The increase in payments reflects a 3.2 percent rise from 2023 levels, attributed to inflation.

Eligibility

The May 1 payment will be distributed to recipients with severe disabilities and limited income, as not all SSI recipients will receive this payment. Generally, SSI recipients receive their monthly benefits on a standard schedule, but this adjustment is an exception.
