Emergency Response: Albuquerque Fire Rescue Deals with Water Main Break and Garage Damage
Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) was called into action on Sunday following a significant water main break. The incident occurred around 12:35 p.m. at 10300 Gutierrez Road NE, where nine units were dispatched to address the situation.
The emergency response was prompted by the partial collapse of a townhouse garage, which coincided with the water main break on Morris Street NE. Authorities reported that one person has been displaced due to the collapse, and a service dog has gone missing in the aftermath. Efforts are underway to locate the missing animal, with holes being drilled into the garage door to facilitate the search.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Multiple agencies, including New Mexico Gas Company and PNM, have responded to the scene. The Water Authority is currently managing the water main break, with repairs expected to extend into Monday. As a result of the break, two residences in the area are without water, and a temporary water station has been set up to assist affected residents. Additionally, two homes have sustained damage from the incident.
The New Mexico Gas Company has confirmed that a gas main was not involved in the break.
