DON’T SLEEP ON IT: Americans can claim payment from $11.5m false advertising settlement – but only if you bought popular furniture product

According to THE SUN, If you’ve recently purchased a popular furniture product, you might be eligible for a direct payment from a recent class action lawsuit settlement.

The Saatva Class Action Lawsuit

A class action lawsuit was filed against Saatva, an online luxury mattress retailer, over alleged false advertising. Plaintiffs claimed that Saatva misrepresented sales and discounts on its website, leading customers to believe they were paying less than they actually were. According to the website created for the case, this violated state laws in California and Oregon.

While Saatva has not admitted to any wrongdoing, the retailer agreed to an $11.5 million settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further legal costs.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for a portion of the settlement, shoppers must meet the following criteria:

1. Purchase: You must have purchased one or more mattresses from Saatva’s website.
2. Date Range: The purchase must have been made between May 23, 2020, and May 23, 2024.
3. Residency: You must have been a resident of California or Oregon at the time of purchase.

The eligibility dates differ slightly depending on the state:

• California residents: Purchases must have been made between May 23, 2020, and May 23, 2024.
• Oregon residents: Qualifying purchases must have been made between May 23, 2023, and May 23, 2024.

Proof of Purchase Not Required

The good news is that proof of purchase isn’t necessary. Those eligible should have received a notice through mail or email that includes a Confirmation Code and Notice ID.

How to File a Claim

If you received the notice, you can enter your Confirmation Code and Notice ID on the website created for the Saatva settlement to file a claim form. Valid claim forms must be submitted by October 27, 2024.

Deadlines and Important Dates

• The deadline to file an objection or exclusion was September 27, 2024.
• The final approval hearing is set for November 13, 2024.

Estimated Payment

Each class member is estimated to receive a payment of $115. There is also an option to choose a store credit voucher worth the same amount, which can be used on Saatva’s website.

Americans should keep an eye on other settlements with upcoming deadlines. For instance:

• A $152.2 million price-fixing settlement offers potential checks if claims are filed by December.
• Another $115 million privacy settlement could provide a one-time distribution if acted on by October.
